Pujanza Valdepoleo DOCa Rioja

Finca Valdepoleo is one of the most emblematic vineyards of Bodegas y Videos Pujanza.  The wine it produces is a clear example of the nature of the area in which it is located, but given the personal touch by Carlos San Pedro.  From this dual character comes a fresh, vibrant, very subtle wine which is in total harmony.  It comes from a vineyard divided into seven plots which are worked separately from the harvest to the end of cask ageing.  This is the moment when, through blind tasting, the decision is made on what percentage of wine from each plot will go into the final courage.  Hence its complexity.

Delicate with a very round attack.  It is a harmonious, complex wine with body and backbone, polished tannins and no sharp edges.  Very well balanced.

The Producer

Carlos San Pedro has been making his own wines for 20 years. His career path began even earlier, helping his father in the vineyard since childhood. When he decided to set up Bodegas y Viñedos Pujanza his philosophy was already quite clear: to focus on the land so as to know and understand perfectly each of his plots and the behaviour of the grape varieties depending on the conditions of each year.

That’s why Pujanza wines are only made using Tempranillo and Viura, the indigenous varieties which represent their origin to perfection and are well known for allowing themselves to be influenced by the soil and climate. Hence each wine’s vintage is converted into a highly representative piece of information. In its passage through the bodega, the important thing is for the wine not to lose that link to the vineyard plot from which it came.
